VISION

In partnership with our community, Donovan Literacy and Technology Middle School envisions a school where all students successfully meet or exceed the local, state, and national performance standards while building a foundation for their development in becoming life long contributing members of society.

MISSION

The mission of Donovan Literacy and Technology Magnet Middle School is to increase academic achievement and prepare students for high school by involving all stakeholders throughout the educational process.   It is our obligation to ensure that we maintain high expectations for our students by implementing a literacy-based curriculum across the content areas and exposing students to the latest technology in a safe, responsible and respectful environment. 

GOALS

(These goals were adopted from the NYSED’s 7 Essential Elements of Standards-Focused Middle-Level Schools and Programs.)

1. To develop a philosophy and mission that reflects the intellectual and developmental needs and characteristics of young adolescents.
2. To offer a literacy-based educational program that is comprehensive, challenging, purposeful, integrated, relevant, and standards-based.
3. To create an organization and structure that support both academic excellence and personal development.
4. To implement classroom instruction appropriate to the needs and characteristics of young adolescents provided by skilled and knowledgeable teachers that includes technology.
5. To maintain strong educational leadership and a building administration that encourage, facilitate, and sustain involvement, participation, and partnerships.
6. To procure a network of academic and personal support for all students.
7. To offer professional learning for all staff that is ongoing, planned, purposeful, collaboratively developed, and related to literacy and/or technology.
