Mr. Andrew Rudd, Principal

Mr. Rudd proudly and happily serves the West Utica community at Kernan Elementary Magnet School. He has been a teacher for fourteen years and an administrator for over seven. Recently he served Utica schools as an English/Language Arts teacher at Donovan Middle School.

Mr. Rudd believes: That the entire community shares the responsibility of providing for children a safe, nurturing learning environment which reflects the balance between high standards and expectations and the understanding that each child learns in a different way and at a different speed and That the development of character holds a purposeful position in a school’s curriculum, preparing students with the habits of mind that promote and reinforce attention, comfort with uncertainty, flexibility, perseverance, and self-confidence, skills with value that endures beyond graduation.
