Our Library

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary Library is a brand new center
that opened in September of 2004.  We have over 8,000 books, and
currently subscribe to 12 periodicals.  The are 21 computers for school

and community use.

During the 2005-05 School Year this library received the Improving Literacy
Through School Libraries Grant.  This grant enabled us to acquire more than 800
new items with a focus on Non-Fiction. There is cable access in the library, as well
as an LCD Projector and a retractable screen. Books are circulated on the
Mandarian System.  We are members of Herkimer/Madison/Oneida School Library
System.
This relationship enables us to Interlibrary Loan books and magazine articles from over
3 counties.  The Library Automation Department helps to keep all records current in
order to best serve our patrons. The library is staffed full-time by a Certified Library
Media Specialist, Mrs. Mary Lourdes Heaton as well as a Certified Teacher Assistant,
Ms. Christina Dobrzenski.  Both Mrs. Heaton and Ms. Dobrzenski urge you to visit our
facility at any time.
