Thematic Instructional Units:
In alignment with the community school philosophy; we are dedicated to providing innovative; scientifically research based learning opportunities that release the inherent intellectual capacity of all children and strengthen our surrounding community. Teachers have congruence, conduct workshops and share best practices, which addresses the various learning styles, multiple intelligences and the psychosocial needs of all children to promote higher academic achievement.
Peaceful People, Essential 30, and PBIS (Positive Behavioral, Interventions and Supports):
Our character development programs; are implemented through collaborative efforts with our parents, community agencies and school wide initiatives. These programs support the culture and behavioral expectations of our school.
“Start Your Day Reading” Program:
Our school hours are extended to provide extended services for the students, their families and the wider community. Students participate in our before and after school reading program which exposes students to different genres of literature and provides opportunities for children to enhance their literacy skills.
The Computer Technology Center:
Our Technology Center is available for the children during the regular school hours to enhance their literacy and technology skills. During the evening, adults are provided with mini courses to increase their basic education skills, life skills and job readiness skills. Students accompanying their parent/guardian are served dinner and tutored by community volunteers from the colleges, churches and community agencies, as their parents explore various learning opportunities.
