Open Studio art tour
The Art Department at Watson Williams hosts its annual
“Watson Williams Open Studio Tour.” The exhibits are on display for the entire
month of March and parents and friends of the community are invited to view the
artistic creations and sign the guest book created by the students. Watson Williams’ own Docents give the
tour. They guide the public through
the various exhibitions and enjoy refreshments afterward. The public then nominates a “People’s
Choice”, an award that is given by the Art Department.

March is a very special
month in Education. “Music in our
Schools” as well as “Youth Art Month” is celebrated nationally. The entire Utica District kicks off the
month with an annual art exhibition at the Edith Barrett Fine Art Gallery
located in Utica College.
In June, Watson
Williams participates in the District Wide Art Exhibition held at the School of
Art at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute. Only a select group of twelve
works can be submitted in this show. The Institute is very generous and donates
two scholarships for their Summertime Artbox Program held for the month of
July. The two lucky students work in drawing, painting, and sculpture.
