Mrs. Heaton

I am pleased to be the librarian at John F. Kennedy Middle School.  I am a product of the Utica City School District.  I attended and graduated from Hugh R. Jones, John F. Hughes, and Utica Free Academy.  I earned my undergraduate and initial masters degree from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, and my Masters in Library Science from SUNY Albany Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy.

My teaching experience is varied.  I taught both 4th and 5th grade at Westmoreland Rd. Elementary School in Whitesboro, NY; Kindergarten at St. Mary's of Clinton Heights, Rensselaer, NY; Middle School Resource, Gifted and Talented Program Director, & Library Teacher at Poland Central School, Poland, NY; Library Media Specialist at John F. Hughes, Alternative Education Program, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School (18 years), and currently, JFK Middle School in Utica, NY.

It is my desire to make the library at JFK a welcoming, bustling place.  I aim to encourage reading for pleasure and a love of literature in the students.  I also aim to support the faculty and curriculum to further student achievement.
