Conkling Green Team

Conkling Elementary School has had a Green Team for the past two years. The Green Team is an organized group of students who work together to make their school more sustainable. Students from 5th and 6th grade are chosen to participate. The team focuses on the 3 r’s… reduce, reuse and recycle. Some of the things the team has done include: creating a community garden and a space for bees, collecting recyclables including paper, plastics and returnables every Friday, educating staff and students on recycling and sustainability, taking a field trip to the recycling center to learn about recycling and landfills, and participating in the Plastic Film Challenge through OHSWA. The Conkling School Green Team welcomes any suggestions for improving their efforts to promote a greener environment.
