The Utica City School District is committed to the overall well-being and success of all students. We recognize that every child is unique and has the ability to reach their personal goals and find academic success through a variety of pathways and with varying levels of support. The Student Services Department is dedicated to this vision and actively works to provide the appropriate supports to students in need.

Our department provides the following supports and services to students experiencing physical, academic and/or social-emotional challenges:

  • school counseling
  • social work
  • school psychology
  • occupational therapy
  • physical therapy
  • speech and language therapy
  • vision and hearing

We also partner with a wide array of community agencies to offer a comprehensive, well-rounded approach to supporting our diverse student needs. See our Systems of Care Partners List.

The Utica City School District has always recognized the important role that social-emotional learning and positive mental health plays in the academic and social success of our students. To this end, the Utica City School District will continue to ensure that students have access to Social-Emotional Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) at every building, universal Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programming for grades K-8, established Building and District Crisis Response Teams, and Response to Intervention (RTI) as a consistent first response to students demonstrating difficulties in school.

The Utica City School District is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace where unique backgrounds, identities and perspectives are recognized as strengths. We are committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive environment and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or genetic information.

We strive to provide equal access to employment opportunities and to foster a culture of respect and fairness for all employees. We support policies and practices that promote equity and inclusion throughout our community.
