District News- School Closing Procedures (Weather Related)

District Crest

As the winter season is upon us this letter will provide information regarding the closing of schools due to
inclement weather conditions, which may include snow accumulations, wind chill factors, icy road conditions, and weather alerts or warnings. The District closely monitors weather reports from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which runs the National Weather Service. The safety and well-being of our students is the priority when making decisions related to closing school due to inclement weather. The District's protocol is to make an informed decision with timely notification to the school community. The District attempts to finalize a decision and notify the community through local media and School Messenger (Robo Calls and Text Messages) by 5:30 am. There is the possibility of calling a two-hour delay in the morning or an early dismissal in the afternoon. In either case, the District encourages all families to have an emergency plan in place in the event either scenario is utilized. Parents and guardians ultimately have the decision-making right to keep a student home or send to school - it is a personal decision.
