Memorial Day Message

May 21, 2024

To Our Utica City School District Community,

I hope this message finds you well as we approach the Memorial Day holiday, a time of reverence and reflection. I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the recent school budget vote. Thank you for your engagement and support. I am pleased to announce that the budget passed with overwhelming community support. This is a testament to the strength and unity of the Utica City School District, as well as our shared goals for future success. We are excited to move forward with the implementation of the enrichment programs and initiatives that you have helped make possible.

As we commemorate Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served our country. It is a poignant reminder of the courage and dedication that have shaped our nation. This holiday serves not only as a time for remembrance but also as a call to hold dear the values of freedom and service.

Additionally, with only a few weeks remaining in the school year, we are indeed nearing the finish line. Please know that students, teachers, and staff are committed to embracing these final days with the same enthusiasm and commitment that have brought us this far.

Please join us in making these next few weeks count, finish strong, and be proud of all that we have accomplished together this year.

Thank you once again for your continued support and dedication to our schools and our students. It is your commitment that enriches our community and strengthens our future.

Wishing you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. We will see students back in class on Wednesday, May 29th.  (No School – Friday, May 24, Monday, May 27, Tuesday, May 28th.)

Warm regards,

Dr. Kathleen Davis

Interim Superintendent of Schools
