Dear Utica City School District Families,
I am writing to share that the Board of Education has appointed Dr. Kathleen Davis to serve as Acting Superintendent of Schools effective June 3, 2026, while Dr. Christopher Spence is on leave.
Dr. Davis is a familiar presence across the Utica City School District, having previously served in this capacity and worked closely with our staff, students, and families. She brings decades of educational leadership experience and a strong understanding of the Utica community.
She will work alongside our District leadership and School Administrators as we close out the school year and prepare for summer programs and the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
In June, our buildings are filled with important student activities, celebrations, performances, ceremonies, and preparations for graduation. Those events, along with the daily work happening in classrooms across the District, will continue as planned.
