This year marked a strong start for our K–Career approach, thanks in large part to the leadership and dedication of our two career exploration specialists, Annette LaQuay and Elisa Lonergan. Through their tireless efforts, students across the district engaged in over 200 hours of meaningful work-based learning experiences.
Annette and Elisa have coordinated a wide range of activities including industry tours, college visits, guest speaker events, and classroom sessions on the power skills for success. They’ve also led resume writing, cover letter writing, and dressing for success workshops, supported career fairs, and provided in-class support to help students develop essential workplace readiness.
Their work didn’t stop at the high school level—students in grades K–6 and 7–8 also participated in career-connected events, helping to build early awareness and excitement around future pathways. Thanks to their vision and coordination, our district’s K–Career model is off to an incredible start, inspiring students at every grade level to explore, dream, and prepare for their futures.
